Houston Artist Jason Ransom: Biography.

JASON RANSOM

The search for something meaningful and true - this has been my focus now for the past eighteen years.

In the three years I have been painting, I have used many of my life experiences to create a work that is both meaningful and true to me: whether it was from my years in the military, years spent in religious devotion practicing Orthodox Judaism, or from the years in which I struggled with depression, all these experiences and many more have shaped the paintings into their current form.

My main focus while I am painting is to project a raw, exposed and truthful emotion upon the canvas. The subject of my paintings, for me, comes secondary and is used only as a vehicle to carry the weight and intensity of certain emotions.

Houston has been my home now for two years, and I currently work out of the Hardy/Nance Street Studios located in the Downtown Warehouse District.
